They have one crazy ass dictator over there in North Korea. I heard a rumour once that the Iraqi national team was flogged for underperforming when Saddam’s son was the manager. What are these people expecting their teams to do? Win the world cup?
Mind you, both would give England a good game
Probably although the morale of our team was not helped by "that" disallowed goal. Not saying it would’ve changed the outcome but it was a f*cking disgrace to the game.
North Korea is a fucked up place the whole dictatorship thing is just really really bad for everyone there…and high hopes!! ffs north korea were one of the worst teams in the whole tournament and the other 3 some of the best.
Well they’re on like £100,000 so you’d have to do a lot to make them care..
there is still a lot of ill feeling from the fans and ceratain players will get some stick when the league ko’s. knowing their ego’s they will be the one’s who feel hard done by.
England DID get let off lightly. North Korea played above themselves in at least one game, (Against Brazil they were quite impressive) and England didn’t even do that once.
But as long as that group of players never gets to play for this country again, I don’t care how lightly they get off. They could spend the rest of their lives getting their balls tickled for all I care, just DON’T let them play for England again.
Thats horrible…
I’ve heard that the team that lost to Portugal despite taking a 3-0 lead in the ‘66 world cup were punished to hard labour for life.
Awful.
That’s where the world should be focusing military efforts on, not against Afghanistan and Iraq. It’s a tiny country, shouldn’t take more than a year to liberate.
I can’t speak for other fans, but they definitely did not get off lightly by me. For a team that plays in one of the most popular leagues in the world, you’d expect a better performance than what they did this year. It always seems as though the key players play better for their clubs than their teams, it was a crucial criticism that was equally brought out in most of the African players this year, and it’s truly shameful. The coach’s decision on the choice of players never made the situation any better. I did not, like the choice of Goalkeepers, even thought evidently James tried his best, Hart has always been promising, and he definitely would not have made the mistakes that Green did in that must win match against America. They blamed that match on the ball, yet they couldn’t seem to progress, and didn’t even make it past the round of 16, as opposed to them usually being kicked out at the quarters, it was just a terrible disaster. Walcott would’ve saved them alot, and frankly, I dunno what possessed Capello to even LOOK at Heskey to begin with, cause Defoe seemed to have made more of a presence than he did. You simply CANNOT blame a terrible score line on a draw, just because it discouraged you, you don’t just play on emotion like that what the opponents are majorly disciplined, the other teams clearly wanted the win. As a matter of fact, kudos to Algeria for holding them down like that, people expected a more brutal score yet they beat the odds. Rooney just like Messi, didn’t even score ONE goal, sadly, it was just a terrible year. And what’s more disappointing is that once the English Premier League begins this coming season, the same same players, will become completely different. Everyone on that team is to blame for their failure to proceed as far as they’re obviously capable of, including their beloved coach. If only the English team would learn how to play together more like Germany and Spain, maybe then they’d have a better chance to kill the biased opinions and stereotypes they’ve generated through their pathetic performance every week. That’s just my opinion.
They were let off very lightly. North Korea were said to have been sent to work in the mines as a punishment for losing all their games, England players just went back to their cushy, well paid lives.
